Does it hurt?Â
Not at all. A little gel goes on the skin to help the sound waves transmit, and Dr. Tauber moves a handheld probe gently over the area. Most patients find it comfortable, sometimes even a little relaxing.
How long does the exam take?Â
A typical foot or ankle ultrasound runs about 10 to 20 minutes, and Dr. Tauber reviews the images with you right after the scan, same appointment.
When would I need this instead of an X-ray?Â
